After a phase of organic-free haircare products, I decided to give argan oil shampoo and conditioner by Aprilis a go.
Let me tell you a little bit about argan oil before I start reviewing this specific shampoo and conditioner. Argan oil is a product of the Moroccan argan tree. It is extracted from the kernels of the argan tree to be used as moisturiser, conditioner and softener for skin and hair. Also nick named “liquid gold” for its amazing qualities, it contains large amounts of beneficial nutrients including vitamin E and fatty acids, which have many positive effects when applied correctly.
I’ve been using argan oil shampoo and conditioner once I started noticing my hair was falling out and becoming thinner. Aprilis argan oil shampoo and conditioner is high in vitamin E, which is extremely beneficial for hair as it promotes healthy hair growth. Not only does it contain vitamin E but also acts as a moisturiser for the scalp to fight dandruff and dry scalp. It can also promote healthy, strong hair as opposed to thin, brittle hair.
When I initially spread the shampoo on my hair and began massaging the product, it didn’t seem to lather as much as my previous shampoos. This is due to the fact that it has no sulphates and certain chemicals, but this is beyond my technical knowledge of chemicals in haircare products. By adding shampoo and water, the shampoo seemed to fully cleanse my hair. It gave my hair a squeaky feel when fully rinsed out, which I personally don’t like. This is the only main con of the product. The conditioner I found to be a little too thick although not much product was needed to cover the ends of my hair. After rinsing, it seemed to do the same as all conditioners. My hair did not feel that much creamier or softer.
After I wash my hair I always tend to air dry rather than use the hair dryer, the argan oil shampoo actually made my hair feel matted and clunged together. As I try not to brush my hair too much when it is wet, I couldn’t hold myself back any longer whilst waiting for my hair to air dry. Surprised to the fact that when I woke up the next morning my hair felt softer and full of life.
After a couple of weeks using argan oil shampoo I started to see a real difference in my hair. Now, it looks healthier, softer and I can see an improvement in the strength of my hair.
Would I buy this product again? Yes, although the process of washing and drying my hair had some cons, the result was surprisingly on the positive side.
