How To Be Happy Whilst Living A Simple Life.

I feel that being happy and living simply is pretty topical right now. Lots of people talk about their dream lifestyle of travelling the world, having tonnes of money and not having a worry in the world. OF course, I too dream of that. However, I think it’s really important to be realistic about life and what you can achieve career-wise as well as having a balance of dreams and ambitions. So, here are mt thoughts on how to be happy whilst living a simple life.

#1 Do What You Love

Not to be cringe but you only live once, It’s super important to ensure you do what you love whilst you can. Whether it;s simple things like pampering yourself, playing a certain sport, Visiting new places or similar, you should make time for things that you enjoy doing.

Although these things can often cost money – what doesn’t nowadays – it’s important that you weigh up the costs to what you want to do, the time it take and so on to enough you can save time and budget to do these things. And be realistic about doing them. I’d love to spend months after months relaxing in a spa in Bali but I know it’s not realistically possible – at the moment.

#Spend Time With Loved Ones

After ensuring you have time to do things that you love, make sure you’re also spending time with the people that you love. I often fall into the trap of being super tired when I get home from work and it makes me ratty and not want to go out. However, life is way too short to sit in all the time.

No matter how deflated and down you feel, it’s important to pick yourself up go and spend time with people who not only do you care about but people who care for you. Chatting with them, telling them your thoughts can help you gain a new perspective on the problems you face and give you guidance on tackling these issues.

#3 Give More Gifts

You don’t have to break the bank buying lots of presents for someone on their birthday. I often find that lots of people only buy people presents when they buy one for them. Of course, if you struggle with finances you shouldn’t stress about buying people gifts just for no reason but likewise, it’s important to share that you’re thinking of someone through a simple, inexpensive meaningful gift.

“It’s the little things that make the world a better, happier place”

Maybe it’s an unpopular opinion buying gifts for people is something that I like doing, Especially if it’s for a girl or someone with similar interests to me – it makes it easier! I know how happy I get from a 50p face mask, my favourite chocolate in the house or a £1 box of new herbal teas to try. Giving a little something every now and again to the people who matter in your life can bring both you and them, happiness.

#4 Exercise

It’s really important to find a release from the stress in your life. For me, that’s through exercise. I don’t really go to the gym that often, but I like to go out on walks most days. I usually go with either my mum or my sister.

“Spending time out in nature can be very refreshing and renewing, especially when you’re living in an artificial, manmade world” – Huffington Post

#5 Forgiveness

Holding a grudge is often deemed to hurt you more than it will to the person who initially hurt you. It’d so important to forgive and forget things that have upset you. Everyone does wrong in their life, no matter what it is and how bad it is. It’s important to recognise that people are only human and everyone makes mistakes.

“Forget it enough to get over it, remember it enough so it doesn’t happen again”

#6 Be Yourself

probably the most important point of this post: be yourself. Self-acceptance of who you are and what you look like is crucial to being able to love yourself. That way you can be the best possible version of yourself.

I always think to myself what if I changed this and what if I looked like that. I’m so glad I look how I do. I’ve read so many stories about celebrities changing their appearance through cosmetic surgery and not feeling like themselves afterwards. It made me feel so sad. As much as I don’t like some of my features, I would hate not to feel like me even more.

As Steve Jobs said, “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life”

Stay Fancy,
